It indicates a key word or topic. If you click on a hashtag it will show you other posts that used the same hashtag. For example, if you did a search of #LiteracyMatters, you will be able to find almost every social media post made by Literacy Quebec and even a few posts by other people. Keep in mind that you cannot add spaces or punctuation in a hashtag or it will not work properly.
Here is a list of some hashtags that are relevant to International Literacy Day. Using them will hopefully draw more attention to the day and will help raise awareness about literacy issues.
